Alberto "Tony" Ramirez

Career Story:

El Rio Community Health Center staff physician for 5 years. Then as a per-diem physician and electronic medical record implementation physician for another 2 years at El Rio. This past year helping Benson Hospital start an outpatient clinic and working as its first staff physician.

Notable Personal Accomplishments:

Starting pilot lessons. Devoted father. Remain involved in immigrant rights organizations and audited a University of Arizona class in Mexican Immigration.

Notable Professional Accomplishments:

Most recently, starting a rural outpatient clinic from scratch, though helping implement an EMR at a large Community Health Center was also a lot of fun. I also attempted to start a successful company that marketed a personal health record (PHR); unfortunately PHR's turned out to be a failed revolution. I still maintain the company as a potential avenue to explore other medically innovative technologies.

Favorite Recreational Activity:

Cycling though I have recently started pilot lessons.

Favorite Memory from Residency:

Group meetings, I believe they were on Thursdays. It was a great opportunity to connect, share, and debate. Fun environment for proactive learning.

Personal Story:

Proud father of four.
